This two-folded need can be addressed by the production of seaweed has been proven to be sustainable in all three aspects of the world (economical, ecological and social). However, the current entry barriers are high with a lack of technical knowledge, the complex permit and administrative processes and the site selection.

We believe there is an urgent need for a shift in sea and ocean use. We must reconsider our approach to the sea and start exploiting its resources in a sustainable manner. Hence, we believe that sea farming of seaweed, is the solution to many environmental challenges. Therefore, we want to make sea farming of seaweed accessible to everyone. We want to lower barriers to enter the promising industry of cultivating seaweed, which provides a sustainable solution to many challenges.

My vision for Go Cirkulär is to become the first Swedish Upcycled skincare brand with Stores and a presence all over the world. I see the brand selling all different personal care products that are inspired by a circular economy and more sustainable consumption models. I would love to open multi-spaces where people can shop, but also to do other activities, to learn and share with the community, of course, surrounded by good nordic aesthetics and design. Aquaculture is the fastest growing food sector and has been for 50 years. The challenge is that the majority of production contributes to overfishing, destroyed ecosystems and has a negative impact on wild fish. At the same time, the demand for seafood is expected to increase by 100 million tonnes to 2050. Market for fish can with can with good conscience be described as a jungle for consumers. There are several different fishing methods, several different farming methods and lots of different labels that very few know what they mean or if they really do any good. The challenge is to develop a sustainable fishfood chain.

Vision

The vision of Gårdsfisk is to integrate aquaculture with agriculture and raise robust, herbivorous and fantastically delicate fish on land, manure can end up on arable land, the water is used twice, first in fish farming and then as irrigation, we avoid eutrophication, overfishing, destroyed ecosystems and do not risk infect wild fish. So we could raise the world’s most sustainable fish.Gårdsfisk strives to be able to achieve a complete circular model in order to be able to raise fish with the absolute least possible environmental and climate impact.

Short Chain Fatty Acids (SCFA) are bacterial metabolites produced from fermentation products of dietary fibers and they are major mediators of differentiation, maturation, and activation of intestinal tissue and exerts potent effects on colonic mucosal functions through inhibition of inflammation.

An intestinal dysbiosis can be caused by antibiotics or poor diets, and can lead to decreased levels of SCFA´s in the gut. By improving the nutritional condition of the colon mucosa it may be possible to prevent or even alleviate some diseases. Of the biological active substances formed, the most important is butyric acid which stimulates mucosal cell proliferation, blood flow and oxygen uptake, resulting in a reduced gut permeability and influx of toxic/inflammatory substances to the circulation and may therefore decrease the risk for endotoxemia (low-grade inflammation) and associated diseases.

Selcis BioPharma is developing a technology where SCFA´s can be delivered to the colon and potentially prevent or restore gut homeostasis.
