Foodtech Innovation Network welcomes KIND to its Company of the Year Award

Publicerad: 27 maj, 2026 av Sara Tenor |

Foodtech Innovation Network is pleased to welcome KIND, a creative agency specialising in branding and communication, as a new partner to the Foodtech Company of the Year Award, presented during this year’s Foodtech Forum in Malmö on September 15.

The collaboration is built around a shared ambition to support innovative foodtech companies and strengthen the conditions for sustainable growth across the industry.

As part of the partnership, KIND joins both as award partner and chair of the jury, contributing expertise within branding, communication and business development. The winning company will also receive strategic support from KIND to help strengthen brand visibility, positioning and future growth.

– We are very happy to welcome KIND as a partner to the award. Their expertise within branding and communication will bring real value to ambitious Foodtech Innovation members at an important stage of growth, says Eva Jilkén, Project Manager at Foodtech Innovation Network.

– We’re so excited to support companies shaping the future of food. Many foodtech startups are built on strong innovation, but often need help making their offer clear and relevant to the outside world. Through this partnership, we want to help ambitious companies turn strong ideas into brands with real impact, says Sanna von Gertten, Agency Director at KIND.

Recognising Innovation and Supporting What Comes Next

KIND is a creative agency working with strategy, design and communication to help brands grow and strengthen their market presence. As part of the partnership, KIND will offer the winning company a tailored strategic and creative workshop valued at 50,000 SEK. Depending on the company’s needs, the support may focus on areas such as positioning, visual identity or packaging design.

Together with returning partner AFRY, this year’s collaboration creates the most extensive prize package in the history of the Foodtech Company of the Year Award, with strategic support and expertise corresponding to a combined value of 100,000 SEK.

The Foodtech Company of the Year Award highlights companies within the network that demonstrate innovation, impact and strong potential to contribute to the future of food.

Foodtech Forum is one of Scandinavia’s leading meeting places for foodtech innovation, gathering startups, industry leaders, investors and public stakeholders from across the food system.

This year’s jury brings together expertise from across foodtech, investment, branding and sustainability to evaluate exhibiting companies with the potential to shape the future of food. The assessment is based on criteria including innovation, sustainability impact, scalability, consumer value and transformational potential.

AFRY continues its engagement as returning sponsor and jury partner of the award, while KIND joins this year as award partner and chair of the jury.

The jury is led by Sanna von Gertten, Director at KIND, and includes Katrin Hedvall, Vice President and Head of Food Sweden at AFRY, Bodil Sidén, General Partner at Kost Capital, Daniel Skavén Ruben, Project Manager Invest Promotion AgriFood at Business Sweden and Fanny Sturén, project leader focused on sustainable food systems.

From Idea to Production with Dapibuset

Publicerad: 6 maj, 2026 av Sara Tenor |

On May 5, Foodtech Innovation Network hosted another session in our Monthly Conversations series, this time focusing on the journey from idea to production. Members gathered in Malmö for a breakfast seminar featuring Lidia Garcia and Micael Simonsson from Foodtech Innovation Network member company Dapibuset, winner of Foodtech Company of the Year 2025.

Turning Side Streams into Value

Dapibuset is building a decentralized bio manufacturing platform that transforms agricultural and food industry side streams into high value ingredients. By processing raw materials closer to their source, the ambition is to unlock both sustainability and new business opportunities.

Their journey started simply, with a whiteboard in a basement and recurring meetings to shape a shared vision. From there, they gradually combined research, partnerships, and support from the innovation ecosystem to move from idea to production.

Learning by Doing and Building the Right Foundation

Experimentation has been central from day one. Early tests in small scale environments, from labs to improvised setups, gradually evolved into custom built equipment and pilot systems for food production.

A key breakthrough came when exploring biomass as a food ingredient. By involving a chef early, the team could quickly test applications such as pasta, falafel, and snacks, demonstrating both taste and commercial potential.

The founders also emphasized the importance of building the right team from the start, with trust and complementary skills at its core. Today, Dapibuset works with an international team and continues to rely on collaboration, while navigating the innovation support system with persistence and a clear sense of direction.

Key Takeaways

  • Start simple, but with a clear vision
  • Test early and iterate quickly
  • Build a strong and trusted team
  • Be patient when navigating funding and support systems
  • Collaborations and networks are critical for growth
  • Think value creation across the entire chain

A Space for Real Conversations

The session closed with an open discussion where members shared experiences, asked questions, and connected with others facing similar challenges.

Moments like these are at the core of Monthly Conversations. A recurring format where we bring together founders, experts, and innovators to exchange knowledge and strengthen the foodtech community.

Monthly Conversations are exclusive to members of Foodtech Innovation Network. Our next session takes place on June 2 and will focus on MAXA, a digital tool tailored for foodtech companies.
